WHO WE ARE
Hi! I'm Casey.
I started Whimsikids a few years ago out of the desire to create a safe space for kiddos of all backgrounds and abilities to be able to create & experiment with materials that are readily available to them. The goal was to make crafting more available to all kids so that it wasn't just a privilege. I firmly believe that it's our God-given right to create! After all, it has been proven over and over that the act of creating releases the "feel good" endorphins in our brains, causing less stress and more happiness!
I've been on a soul-searching (& intensely researched) journey to find exactly what Whimsikids was created to be & have un-doubtedly landed on the Reggio Emilia approach. Without getting into the technical side of things, it's a student-centered teaching style based on experiential learning through touching, listening, & observing. It's all about the process of creating art instead of the end product. WAIT! This doesn't mean that there aren't gorgeous products that come from this kind of crafting- quite the contrary. Kids think of things in ways that we as adults may have never thought of. They're minds are naturally creative. You know this.
We are taught from a young age to stay inside the box; but what if there's a better way?!
I really hope you'll join us this upcoming summer for some of our art workshops & sensory play dates. It will be a wonderful time for our kiddos to experiment & grow.

5 day | 3 day | July 2020
This camp is designed to bring out the best creative monster in each little artist! It is a process art based camp; meaning that the art is more about the process than the final product. This doesn't mean that they won't have plenty of projects to find pride in- quite the contrary! It's just more about enjoying the process of finding how to best create what is being asked of them! In this time they will learn how to use different mediums, how to use their creativity to problem solve, & they will in turn become more confident in their own process!
*Please send your little artist with a packed lunch & drink. We will provide a snack daily.
Recommended for ages 4 +
CREATIVE PLAY DATES

This play date is filled with lots of messy sensory fun! Your little one will have the experience of a lifetime while splashing, squishing, squeezing, scooping, & playing with different textures & materials. This is a chance to make a deep connection with your little through creative play while meeting other parents from surrounding areas.
Please email if you would like to be a host home. We will set up right in your backyard & clean up our mess when we leave. What a fun way of connecting with neighbors & friends while having messy fun with your little! [Minimum: 6 kiddos; Maximum: 12]
OUR LITTLE ARTISTS
5 week session
These 1 hr workshops are great for introducing process art to our little artists! In this time they will learn how to use different mediums, how to use their creativity to problem solve, & they will further develop their fine and gross motor skills while gaining confidence in their own process! The session is offered in a 5 week package. Each week the little artists will come home with a piece of work to be proud of & will also be working on one long-term project that they'll be able to take home after the last session!
